Aim Corrector ID

I came across this aim corrector, but I am having a great deal of difficulty figuring out what it is designed to fit. Instead of slipping down over the rifle from the top, it appears to come up from the bottom. The fore end would have to be very narrow, and possibly without top wood. I have Googled aim correctors, and gently tried it on Lee Enfields, Martinis, and Rosses, but haven't found anything that seems to fit quite right. The only marking appears to be either an astrisk (*) or sold out of service mark, visible in the last photo. Any ideas?

Interesting piece.....

It isn't a German wartime K98k Zielspiegel (Target Mirror) Training Sight, but theirs did attach from underneath using a coil spring. See pics.

Any chance the "star burst" stamp is East German?

Well, I dug through ~Angel~'s collection of aim correctors for Enfields and came up with the two below. So, I decided to snap a few pics for this thread.

None of what I have for a Mauser, or she has for her Enfields look like what you have, although the No.1 MKIII seems to have a similar mirror structure with the large X pattern reinforcement stampings.

Do you know what the marking says on the No.1 Mk III aim corrector. I'm referring to the one with the "hand" being held up?
