    Removing 03 rear sight

I have an '03 which apparently has damage to the sight windage adjustment. I suspect that the threads on the knob, the threads on the sight or both are damaged. How do I remove the knob and sight to inspect this?

turn the knob, till the sight swings over enough to left off, then, push the windage out of the base.

The rear sight should be removed as follows:

    (1) Lift the leaf to the vertical position and, if possible, slide the drift slide assembly to the top of the leaf.

    (2) Turn the windage knob counterclockwise until the rear sight movable base has completely disengaged from the windage threads. Then turn the movable base a little further and lift from the fixed base (collar).

    (3) Re-install in reverse order of removal.

    Hope this helps.
