Please help to identify my slide

My last ID issue for this gun -

This T-3 slide, straight from the CMPicon, is almost devoid of markings. There appears to be a partial figure "8" (or bomb?) stamped halfway along the stem's outer face

and a poorly machined pattern covering the bottom of the box's inside

There are no other markings obvious to me on this part. My only info source right now is Riesch's book and forums like this one - Ruth's volumes are on the way. Anybody ever seen a slide like this one before? Any clues as to who made it and when will be appreciated.

    TIA

My guess would be Saginaw Grand rapids S'G'
They are sometimes marked very lightly on thier parts.
Also on both my IP and S'G' which both have S'G' slides there is a partial
Flaming bomb on the ouside of the arm. If you look closely you may be able to make out the S'G'

Clean the bottom of the inside of the well, looking closely in the milling scars, also look closely on the outside bottom.

SG, S'G' and W for WRA and Underwood markings can be hard to find.

    Keep looking.........you'll find something.

Zoomed out.........Do I see a small Ordnance Bomb on top of the slide by the stop pin?

    Cheers,

I have one exactly like that! look in the inside the well about 1/2" from edge and
you can make out S'G'. Use some chalk.

    Billy,
I tend to see many things !!
I blew his slide pic up to around x1000 and think I can make out a Ordnance bomb stamped by the slide stop pin.
But remember I've spent the last few days looking over markings on a few hundred old pocket knives...................

I'm curious to see if a 'bomb' is there.

    Cheers Buddy,
    Charlie

Thanks all. I don't think there's a bomb near the stop pin, perhaps just a jpeg "ripple" you see. Slide is clean save for perhaps a thin film of ATF and/or CLP so that "goop" in the box bottom is metal. I'll try using chalk tonight. It's a good idea. If I find anything, I'll post a pic tonight.

That's a nice SG pic. Wish there was some image collection available of various observed stamps by location for reference ...

I inlarged the pic and pointed out the S'G' marking
Sorry for the screwed up photoshop job.
I have old photo software and it is the best I could do!

    BINGO (sort of)!

I think you guys nailed it. I heavily coated the inside of the box with chalk (what a mess). Then using a Qtip I gently brushed through the many layers of sanskrit to reveal more recognizable characters. About 0.1" tall and about 0.4" from the leading edge I think I "see"

"S'G'" (or maybe plain "SG" or "S" or ???). Riesch gives several possible contractors who may have produced this part. This is really a tough one. How can one tell them apart here? What's your call?

USGIcollector, how tall are the letters in your stamp?
