    pics

Let me try here. I thought according to the serial number that it was an early model, but some things just do not match up to me. The fixed front sight. The lack of rear sight. I know nothing about the M1icon, so please excuse my ignorance. I am just trying to narrow this model down. Trying to decide on refurbishing it, or turning it into a home defense gun.

ironbird, thanks for the pics. It seems someone was doing some customizing. I'm not sure how you can sight that carbine. It doesn't apear to have a rear sight. It's been reblued and the front sight has been changed. The stock seems to be a commercial/sporter. Do you have any history on it? Put a scope on it and it would probably make a decent hunting rifle.....Frank

Ok I did not have the knowledge to tell it was " reblued ". I am glad you told me. I knew the stock was horrible. Someone has done some rigging to the stock to make it fit. I am not going to try to put an original winchester stock and stuff on it then. I am just gonna use it for home defense. I will put a tactical scope on it and folding stock, and be thankful it is a reliable weapon. I already have two hunting rifles, so no need to go there. Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. You probably saved me alot of money. Cause the stock and all the parts to restore it are really exspensive. Thanks again.

Ugh, murder most foul... Blasphemy! A prior owner committed a crime.

What you plan on doing is a good option. Ultimak scope rail, red dot scope and a Choate folder would make a first rate PDW. A shame they milled off the rear sight bridge!

    Barrel has been cut down.
Would still be interesting to know what parts are in it...........
Swapping out that magcatch with one designed for a 30rd would help support the weight fully loaded.
I see you keep your mag loaded......
Look on the front teeth of the mag and see what markings are on it.

    Cheers,

No sense in having a weapon that is not loaded. Here are some pics you can use to answer your questions. FYI it has a thiry round clip now. What makes you think the barrel has been cut down? What should the length be?

    Sorry Ironbird,
I meant to say Magcatch, when asking about the markings on the front tooth.
It looks like it has a W (?) stamp. If so that would be for a Winchester and can be used with your 30rd mag. A fairly sought after part.
But the Magcatch with the extra support arm on the left catches that nub on the leftside of your 30 rd mag and helps support the weight of a fully loaded 30. These are easy to come by and cheap.

Keeping your mag fully loaded can cause for 'memory' in the spring.

My Father always said "What good is a unloaded gun"

    Enjoy your shooter....
Thanks for sharing it with us,
    Charlie
