Talking Off topic: My "other" carbine

Smokehouse has seen it already seen it on another board, but I just wanted to show it off. After all, it is a 16" Carbine of sorts! Since the doctor limited me on what I can shoot with this lousy shoulder, I traded off my 7.62x39 Ak for a Saiga in 5.56 that I restored to pistol grip form. I converted it where it uses 5.56 Galil magazines... It is almost as compact and handy as the M1icon.

Sorry, just wanted to show it off. I know there are a few AK appreciators here.

But is that considered a Birch or European Hardwood stock??????

Is the barrel original or did it get replaced in a post-war rebuild?

Do you prefer BLOicon or Toungue oil on that?

Actually, it will eventually wear an eastern European handguard with a BLOicon finish!. As for the barrel, it is post war, though the steel on these Saigas is so hard, I think the Russians are using melted down WW2 tanks!

So then, it will not be original. Humped parts, rebuilt. You didn't move to Modesto did you?

Actually it's currently being restored to it's former glory in the deep dark recesses of my workshop in South Texas.
When I finish it will look much like this picture but without the buttstock. I am too cheap to pay the $200 for an SBR.
Yep, that's 30 round carbine magazine and it will be in .30 caliber carbine. Just because I have the stuff to make it, it will be my version of an AK Pistol in .30 Carbine.

True, Maybe it is a distant cousin to Bavarian Carbine, rebarreled by Erma Werke?
