    Charger clip anorak wanted.

The "Mark I" charger does not have a slit on the end to form the "spring and retain the cartridges. I have only one of these.

The "Mark II" has a slit and the common long cut-outs on the back face. However I have noticed that some have a single pip on the RH side just above the bottom hole, as you are looking from behind when it is deployed in the charger bridge.

I have a batch of 20 "Mark II" clips, nine of them have the single pip, the remainder do not.

Never noticed this before, then again, I haven't devoted much time to looking at them.

Can anyone enlighten me on the feature?

The "pip", you mean? I always thought they were to stop the charger at the correct point whilst loading the magazine.

    Charger

Bill Harriman gave us a lecture on clips and chargers a couple of months ago, he should know. PM me and I'll send you his email address.

Don't know if these links work (from the Great War Forum), I think you have be a member of the particular forum, but they're from the link in armabill's post(well down into the discussion!):

Ach, I'm stupido again! Upon careful re-read, it's the cartridge retaining "pip" on the BACK of the charger, that's being of interest. There's a pic floating about, but I'm not smart enough to paste it directly. So another link:

Post #12 shows the idea, I hope!

Sorry, Enfieldlock! Feel free to slap me upside the head.
