I D stock help

My buddy got this stock and needs help with some ID info I do know the RA means remington but help with other marks. thanks

looks like a Remington A3 stock that had been rebuilt by Rockisland.

Elmer Bjerke - chief of small arms inspection at Rock Island from 1946 to 1948, which means the inspector or overhaul was sometime during that period.

Frank J. Atwood was the commander of the Rochester Ordnance District, which contained Remington. As Chuck said, a Remington M1903A3 stock.

So is it a parts stock? or is it the one you would see on a remington durn war times?

also how would he find out what style of stock it is?

46to 48 was after WW2

Actually, I meant to state 1946-1958. There was a lot of work on M1903A3s post-war, mostly, I believe in the late 1940s, at Rock Island. Although I have no definite proof, I believe a lot of the work done was to prepare M1903s and M1903A3s for service in Greece.

The stock would be correct for a later M1903A3, but is often seen as a replacement stock on M1903s and earlier M1903A3s, as well.
