    Seal Knife?

I have had this button knife for about 20 years. I was told it was being tried out by the seals at the time. Very strong spring action.

Does anyone know anything about this knife or the story? And a possible value?

    Thanks,

    Jim

    I have one.

I got it in 1996. It was made by Paragon in the USAicon. Named 'SEAL' knife. It is a good knife, but the actuator spring is weak and speaking from experience, difficult to replace without four hands - I only have two.

Pocket carry is not a good idea. I have the scar on my right hand to prove it. The button can be depressed and the knife open in the pocket without you knowing it - until it's too late.

Seems big for pocket carry to me.

Not really considering the number of gents who carry snubnose revolvers in their front pockets.

It is on the big side for a 'pocket knife', but there isn't a clip on it and a belt pouch seemed counter-intuitive for an auto opening knife. I carried the knife in a back pocket and had a BHP and spare mags on my belt at the time. All during the course of my employment at the time.

    It is a copy...

of the "Original" Black Knife which was in part developed by Charles Ochs III, aka OX Forge. This is a link to his website; the latest interation of the Back Knife is available under GSA Contract to government agencies; and is(obviously) popular among the Special Ops Community. I have one of the OX Forge knives and I can assure you that it is not only a big folder, it is well made and a fully functional knife. It is also know (by other knife makers) as the UDT Knife among other knives. Only the OX Forge knife by Charlie Ochs is what I would own although MIcrotech's UDT copy isn't bad...
