Please take a look at the pics below. I have a late production Rock-ola that appears to have been partially restored. Please look and let me know what is not correct or may be fake. Please be honest... no feelings will be hurt here

I am NOT an rockola expert. I do have one question - where did you get that butt plate? There is absolutely no wear on it.

I bought it restored. Buttplate came with it.

I do not believe that is a Rockola buttplate.

The first one is on my RO, SN 4591489, last one is icraker. The two in the center is Chestnut Ridge. I can't see any difference in mine, Chestnut Ridge late and icraker's. I report you decide.

My comment was not aimed at the ID, my comment was aimed at the total lack of any wear. You would think it popped out of a time machine directly from the manufacturer's floor.

Actually, the pattern more closely matches the Rockola late type you showed. The Rockola early is missing a dot at the "3 o'clock" position which is present on the OP's sample. however, the actual dot pattern is stamped more strongly and clearly on the OP's sample than the Chestnut Ridge sample. Comparing the OP's sample to those shown in Riesch's book, Riesch's samples are not stamped as strongly either. Again, pattern aside, it looks like the OP's sample is a lucky find with zero wear.

Still, not knowing what was paid, Its a good looking carbine overall - if not as a genuine collector then as a show piece and shooter...

Just my two cents worth.

That's a not to shabby a restoration. Whoever did it did a good job. Is the barrel band a real type 2? Pics of the front and sides would help. Also how about a pic of the right side in front of the slingwell? Thanks.....Frank

If so......Did Rock Ola use it that late in production?
