    Savage Enfield Barrel

I'm looking at a Savage built in 1943. It has all Savage marked parts, except for the barrel. The barrel has only a "1" stamped on the flat in front of the receiver. I expected a year and inspector's mark (similar to what's on the Long Branch I have). Is this typical of Savage, or could the barrel be a replacement?

NP2650, I don't even have the '1'! The Savage, at least by '43, doesn't have many inspection marks, perhaps the least of the No.4s.
