Mosin 91/30 CH w Boxed x

I took a little trip to Norfolk Va Navel base last week and took some time to hit the local gun shops. I found and bought a real nicely marked 91/30 Tula with the CH marks for $110.00 dollars US. It has the plugged holes and new bolt and wood with a re-strike 3 digit serial #. The weird thing is a very small boxed X below the Tula mark. I looked through about 100 lbs of dead tree material and can't find any reference to this mark, not even under the importers (different strike and time anyhow) also, not counter bored and has a near mint bore Hum, I can't figure this one out-SDH

It's an ex-sniper. The boxed X indicates it was decomissioned as a sniper during refurb in the Ukraine, post-war.

Thanks Claven2, I kinda figured the Ukraine connection from the box with a slash through it, but, there is also a small rectangle box with the number 104 on the passenger side of the stock and a couple of un-recognizable proofs. I just took a real hard look in-side the metal and the bore and chamber are spotless and there are three plugs in it, one towards the front and two towards the rear, very close together. I can't understand why would they decommission a rifle with what appears to be very low mileage? I won't get a chance to shoot it for awhile (once again, back problems), but, I can't wait to see how it does. Another dumb question, would the standards sights be set for shooting with a bayo, being as how it appears to be an X sniper?

The sights were PROBABLY regulated with the bayonet fixed, but that can be remedied with a taller front post, if need be. Many of the later-war sniper rifles were de-commissioned after having never been issued. I suspect this happened in the 1970's after the Dragunov became standard issue.
