03a3 bolt

Good Morning All,
Yesterday I was looking over a sporterized 03a3 and noticed the bolt had been turned down to accommodate the Weaver scope. On the top of the handle root was stamped " BF" and the numbers 3, 8. On the underside was stamped "S". I assume the "S" is for Smith Corona but
what are the other marks ? Or is this bolt from an 03 and the "S" is for Springfield ??
