    CMP Special

    I recently got a CMPicon Special M1icon.
The one with refinished parts and a new stock and barrel.
Though the website and email from CMP stated it would be 60-90 days
to recieve my M1, it was ordered 5/17 and received 6/3.
( I should be glad, but I wasn't planning on spending the $900 until
    late July or August!)

Anyway- it seems to be in good condition, I have not shot yet.
My question is-the area around the rear sight and receiver heel has a number of very pronounced scratches where the finish is just gone.

What can I use to touch up these scratches and bare areas?

Any advice or stories on the CMP Specials would be greatly appreciated as well.

    Many Thanks

    brande

I would have them exchange it. Those are not supposed have scratches where the finish is gone. That was part of the allure of these rifles.

If it's a CMPicon Special, it's supposed to be completely refinished. These sold for $995. I'd get into touch with their customer service people... They are good about fixing problems.

If it's a Service Grade Special, it's a different story. These are supposed to be collector grade metal with a replacement stock. They were not refinished by the CMP, and might have handling marks. These sold for $895.
