    shipping a colt to Brooklyn NY

    I just sold a US Property Colt 1903 ON Gun Broker The Buyers contact information shows Brooklyn NY. I thought Handguns were outlawed in New York If he mails me a valid FFL can I legaly ship to him in new york. I do not need to get into any trouble

    Wasn't/isn't John Jovino's in Brooklyn? Ordered a lot of pistols and such from that outfit years ago when I was working for an FFL- they imported a bunch of milsurps, including pistols. Retail storefront somewhere in NYC.

    If he sends you a valid FFL, you don't ship to him ----- you ship to the FFL.

    Yes, certain individuals in NYC can own handguns, but there are rules. You don't have to know any of them; federal law permits you to transfer to an FFL in any state. It's the responsibility of the FFL to know the rules for transferring to the nonlicensee.

    Now, if he wanted me to ship directly to him with a C&R, I'm not going to do it. It may be legal, I just don't want to get involved with NY problems.
