Don't know about the ammo but don't have any gut feelings about the barrel band because it is a cut off type III.

Looks like a cut band to me,slight overhang on part that slides over barrel. .02

I think Cut off, zoomed in and there is no radius on bottom band. 90 degree cut!

Charlie, I tried working on the ammo labels in photoshop but didn't get very far. I am sure it is FMJ, but I THINK (not sure) that it is 95 grain. It MAY (based on the way the numbers are laid out on the box) be French (???) However, at $.60 a round, I would pass. There is nothing special about ammo that you can not identify. While I am sure that a person could read through the bag if you were standing there next to it, the photographer didn't think to simply push the bag down to take a better picture. Either the guy doesn't care to move it or he is deliberately being non-descriptive.

Not accusing, not being over daramtic and not on a witch hunt... Just can't read the label. Did you ask him for a more detailed description?

But the guy did have some very unique things in some of his other auctions. I wonder if they are genuine too.

Yep. PRVI. BTW, PRVI is brass case, lead core, copper jacket. Were you implying by 'Lake City brass ammo' that PRVI is steel case?

No, but given the choice of buying Privi brass cased ammo for $0.60 a round (or more) I'd sink the money into USGI issue ammo, preferably Lake City brass ammo.

It's up to $0.76 a round now? Hell, I'm finding Remington PMC at around $22.00 for 50 rounds, that's $0.44 a round.

Stickhauler; Sorry, I misunderstood. Yes, there's no brass like mil brass, that's for sure.

Sadly, a good part of the military brass ammo I have I bought to keep, not shoot. I found a full bandolier of 1954 Lake City around a year ago priced right, I'll never shoot it because it's as old as I am. I found one of 1972 Lake City that I'll never shoot either, it was made the year I graduated from high school. But I was lucky enough to find a few 10 round stripper clips of loose ammo I bought up to use, so it's all good. If that ammo was priced right, I'd consider it though, the .223 I have by that maker is pretty decent ammo.

I'm sick of trying to determine a parts marking, condition or ID from these shi##y pics.

Inland, I won't speak for Stickhauler and what he spoke of, but I know I am willing to pay a little more for GI brass over commercial when it comes to carbine ammo. While most name brand commercial brass reloads just fine for me, the USGI seems to last a bit longer and does not split at the mouth as soon.

Just my two cents...
