Looks like an Australian M1928A1 with the sling swivel mounted on top of the buttstock

I don't know about Austrailian, I had one that was a Canadian vet bringback that was the same. Front grip had the #1 mk3 center swivel on the right side top. I think it was common for the early ones without the forestock and swivel. They sure have a bit of everything though!

Another modification by British armorers that is seldom encountered is the second sear notch added to the rear of the M1928A1 bolt. This would allow the bolt to be closed on an empty chamber and still use the safety to lock the bolt. Years ago this was sometimes called the paratrooper notch. The M1A1 had the second safety notch in production.
