Mil spec primers

YEARS AGO BOUGHT 20,000 primers with a thicker cup made for semi auto ...Started reloading them in 380 auto no problem..... 9mm no problem....223 no problem. but misfires in the carbine...Second hit always fire....Always smack the operating rod to make sure it is in battery.... Do hammer springs in a carbine weaken?.....Charlie........PS .....yes...... I have always used small rifle primers in pistols applications with proven loads..... Have no problem with GI ball or reloads with regular CCI primers

Have heard of others with the problem of misfires using No. 41 primers. I loaded some brass with primers only and they all went bang so I loaded a box using the no. 41s as soon as I get to the range I will see how it goes

I have been using mil spec primers for carbine loads (14.5 gr W296, 110gr ball) with no problems except an IBM I had which turned out to have excess head space. All 10 others work fine, as did the IBM after a re-barrel job.

Well The primers/hammer spring seems to be the problem....With LC 52 and reloads with cci SMALL RIFLE PRIMERS NO misfires....I have 3 carbines so now i GET TO LEARN how to replace hammer springs....Hope wolfe has tthem.... Charlie

Yep wolfe has them.....also got some 30 rd mag springs......Oh Boy.....Charlie

Just remember , that notch in the side of the hammer , which you KNOW was placed there to make spring removal easier.....ISN'T. It is removed via the other side.
