    Think this is pretty cool

So, I am probably in the wrong forum because the rifle I have isn't technically surplus. My great uncle, so the story goes, lifted it off of a dead Japaneseicon soldier during the war and has just stored it in his closet since then. Looking at the rifle it def. has taken a beating and when I got it, it was rusted REALLY BAD! so the question I guess that I have is what is the best way to stop the decay so that I can place it into a glass case? And for curiosity sake...how much would a collector pay for a gun like this (aka: how much is this thing worth). I think its a type 91 arisaka but I am not certain. thanks for your help guys!

Friend, you might just be surprised as to how much of that old surface rust you can get rid of with very careful cleaning. Same thing with the bore.

I have a Japaneseicon rifle that was given to me by a dealer in order to "improve the quality of my junk rack" (his words). It needed a couple of parts and a HUGE amount of TLC (far, far more than the dollar value of the rifle would call for, but it was fun).

When I was finished, I had a rifle that shoots 3/4-inch groups at 145 yards... with the original iron sights.

You might just have its spiritual twin brother; you never know until the job is done.

Give us some more information, keep in touch here; there WILL be someone willing to help.

That's what most of us are here for.
