03 A3 stocks

Can anyone tell me at what point they started using teh stocks with teh more pronounced handgrip, I've seen them called C stocks. isthere any rhyme or reason, was it just one batch? and does it make am 03 A3 any more or less valuable (assuming it's correctly fitted on teh right rifle).

IIRC, C-stocks were first used for NM rifles circa 1929-1930. They were then approved for standard rifles, upon which they were designated the model 1903A1, although few were produced as such.

Only the S-type was standard for 1903A3's. C-stocks were produced by sub-contractors during WWII for use with the 1903A4 and were only used on 1903A3's that had been refurbished.

Value depends. Early C-stocks were finely crafted and are MUCH more valuable then a later type.

Original marked C-stocks for the 1903A4 are highly valued.

A common, replacement C-stock will not raise the value of an A3 with its original S-type.
