Silly question from a novice Bren owner

Hi, is an Inglis made Bren actually stamped Inglis, If so or not what should the marking be that confirm it was made in Canada ? Thanks, Guy

On a normal Inglis Mk1 or 2 you will find Inglis marked as in the photo on the Right side of the body.



If there is no markings on the right, then it is probably Enfield and will have the ED logo on the left side with Mk1 and the date,



A early Enfield will have the crown Enfield logo on the right side.



For a 100% positive ID, post the serial and we can be sure, I could also have some other info for you.

If you are really, really TRULY lucky, you'll have one similar to pic 3 above, but dated 1937............ A serial number will (?) identify your Bren by nationality but some of our allies, who eventually turned out eventually NOT to be our allies, have been known to have linished the nationality/manufacturers markings out.

The Bren.......... The finest machine gun ever to be put into the hands of a fighting soldier. Given its reliability, simplicity and accuracy a soldier will ask for nothing more. I think it was Abraham Lincoln said that (Only joking............. and apologies to Bob Dylan!)

Hi Peter, in Canada, Bren is complete, dewat, overall good condition, Bren was not cut in half. Any idea of price range ?

Haven't got a clue about Canadian prices, but I bet that someone else on here will soon tell you!

The UK legal equivalent would probably sell for around £300-400 at present. Now over to our Canadian colleagues...

around this part of the woods a decent bren can start at or around 900 all the way to $1500 for something unusual and in mint shape. I have seen some around the 1800+ posting price but they take forever to sell.

at least it met a better fate then that of the site where the avro arrow was made. its currenly a muddy field and then in the winter its used to pile snow.
