1861 Springfield Musket info. needed

I read in a post a year ago about the 1861 musket having two types of rear sights. I believe I have the earlier type but I can not find any information or pictures on it. I replaced it thinking it was the wrong sight for the musket. I still have it and I would like to put it back on the musket if it's orginal to the firearm. Can you tell me where I can find information and pictures on the older or first type. All the 1861 Springfields I've seen, have the other or second type. Here is the link I coppied from a previous posting. My 1861 came with his type.

The sight you have is mostly found on Whitney contract guns. It is not a Springfield standard issue sight but it will fit Springfield barrels.
