    M1917 eddystone 30-06

Is there a preference to what ammo you should or should not use with these older rifles.
What was the issueing ammo @ the M1917 use?
My friend picked up a semi sporter. Stock was cut down, front sight blades removed and has a one shot gizzmo in it, all else seems ok. The stock is a bit beat up though

He is not pic or computer savi, I am not driveing over there to take pics. We will be meeting up in a few weeks. I suggested some M2 ball ammo from the CMPicon which I have. ????
Rear sight is intact. He says it all looks very good. There are little markings on almost every part that he claims are the same?

Could it be one of the single shot followers you can place in the magazine? I have one some where I just can't remember where I put it. I think they were used as training aids.

In general, I find US spelling more rational than Britishicon. But I draw a line at a**

    It should be a***

stick with factory or US ball ammo. the Greek surplus is loaded a little longer and made for the M1icon rifle, and has feeding issues in some bolt action rifles.
a box of Remington factory can be purchased for 15.00 at Wal mart ect..safe and it will feed and work fine in your rifle.
