I've been interested in the different heel stamps that were used. They started big in 1941, went small in 1942, and back again large in 1945 and 1949/50. The Indians overstamped with a large, fat stamp.
1943 to 1944 range.
Various FTR's.
I'd recommend this become a Milsurp article.
How about one for each maker?
I thought I recognized mine in there lol (limpet mine's 2nd post, 2nd picture from left). I have been trying to work out what finish is on the rifle as some people have said it was parkerized, but the rest of the receiver and barrel is definitely matt black, without any hint of grey that I have seen on other parkerized Long Branch Lee-Enfields.
With a few more marking variations, then this would be a great article![]()
