    Some observations Savage #4Mk1*

I just took the butt plate made of cast alloy gray color off my Savage No4Mk1*.
The butt plate itself, the butt trap, and spring are all marked ILCO with an S..
    Not zamacicon manucatured?
Was this maker used in conjunction with zamac?
The rear hand guard is variation 1, with no grooves..
    SN 66C0626...
Any answers appreciated..Stratton says most savage No4Mk1*s had grooved hand guards..no mention of ILCO..Thanks, Andy

zamacicon is a type of "grey" cast alloy - the same as saying Brass, bronze, etc

Are you thinking Zamac is the name of the manufacturer ?

(Sorry if I've misread the question)
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...
