Is This a Colt Aluminum Stock Assembly??

The same party that gave me the fiber covered barrel gave me this aluminum collapsible stock (since pinned open to comply with NJ law, the shinny spot on the left side of the stock is the blind pin). The only mark I can find is a 'B' or 'R' on the left side. IIRC is is two position only.

It sort of looks like it but I don't remember them having a rough finish. The only finish I saw was smooth and dull shine.

Nope. The aluminum colt stock is coated w/o smooth, black, hard material, sort of a thin tool dip but more bittle .

That looks like a Bushmaster stock to me.

Model One sells an Aluminum stock like that. I have seen Colt without the vynil coating, and it is pretty smooth. Aftermarket makers make them rough to hold the black paint better and resist scratches.

The aluminum body on this stock is smooth. It has been painted with a high temperature black enamel, sprayed on the final coat from a distance to give the 'krinkle" finish.

One easy check. Is it of commercial or military tube dimensions? Still not a Colt unit. (99% certain)

I had one of those early XM177E1 uncoated stocks. A retired Colt employee told me that the fist approx. 1000 had no coatings.

    It was neat.
