    Vz 58 SBR

This got dropped off Monday afternoon. I'm probably going to get frostbite shooting it today, but it must be done! Of course I had to change a bunch of parts before shooting it.

OK, is that a left hand safety conversion, or am I going mad?

    Short barrel's ATAS, too!

ATAS? You're not going mad. That's the passenger-side lever of an ambi selector that you can see.

I can go way more tactical (oh, how I loathe that word) than that. I mean, seriously, it doesn't even have single Magpul part on it!Though I do have an VZ M4 stock adaptor and a Magpul CTR that I could try out on it.

The selector is a North Eastern Arms piece. They did a pre-production run a while back and I managed to snag a couple. It's a drop-in mod for both the CSA rifles/carbines and for the CZ 858s that have been around up here for years. You can index the left side lever in 90 degree increments to find a place you like it. The way I set them up is so the LH side is horizontal, pointed rearward when the safety is on. That way I can flick it downward with my thumb and when I'm done shooting my trigger finger pulls the RH lever back to safe.

    It's really slick and fast.

I didn't make it to the range. I'm on midnights and only woke up a while ago. Plus, it's -21c outside.

Midnight guy myself, as well, but we weren't completely covered up this week, so...Out not killing deer. Hunting, yes?

Anyway, that safety looks like something I'd happily buy, but not quite ever get around to actually making! Optics mount as well. Not much available down this way for the VZ58.

Do you have a VZ? There's tons of VZ parts and accessories up here and most of the dealers will ship to the US. Or if you know someone, they can ship it down. I can let you know where to get it.

I'll have a couple new pics up soon. I've been messing around with it since I can't get out shooting. It's really tacticool now.

I've had three(?). Just the one right now. Very plain! But- wood front-end bits, early trigger guard.

They look really nice in wood. I had a set of wood but I sold it. I couldn't stand the thought of beating it up. I use my VZ for 3 gun and such so they do get banged around.

Just for you, jmoore, I don't think I can make it any more ATAS.

You forgot the 30m of 3-point sling webbing! GAH!

And the "redi-mag" or mag clips.

    And the friggin las-er beams.

And bipod w/ front grip. Or grip pod.

You're not really ATAS until your SBR weighs over 10lbs (4.5kg).

    Anti-ATAS(?):

How about bicycle inner tube as rain guards (esp. when retained by zip ties!)
