My old workhorse

This is my Colt Combat Elite, I have been carrying it on duty going on 25 years. I'm the last of the dinosaurs, the only one left in the county. I've been "grandfathered in". Everyone else is carrying Tupperware. My gun is older then some of the Deputies I supervise, I have flashlights that are too.

Before I quit the army two years ago, I was in the same position as you. I had socks older that the troops around me. It makes one reflect on other times.

Congratulations on an excellent choice of a firearm. I have a Series 70, an old Remington Rand, and a Kimber, and they are each a total pleasure to shoot. The wife tried my Kimber with 200 gr light loads the other day and loves it, a new found friendship. Back in the day, a friend of mine deployed with his personal Colt .45 and he got caught by the battalion commander. But in those days they werent so quick to hang folks like they might now, so he got by ok.

Guys like you have been a big help to me. The local county sheriff's office shoots at our range. There are a few .45 shooters among all the .40 and 9mm, and for a couple years they would leave once fired brass which I would scoop up later. I now have a bucket of good quality brass from them.

What kind of hollow points do you prefer? Thanks for your years of service!

My son and my daughter are both Deputy Sheriffs here in the county where I live. They are both required by the department to carry Glocks in .40 Cal. Both grew up with 1911 pistols in .45 and believe me, if it were up to them they would both carry 1911 pistols in .45 Cal.
