BSA 1904 Mark 1** IP

I have a small collection of Mark 1*** rifles and an old friend traded this example to me, the bore is excellent, The barrel being a replacement is not dated but has the early HV stamp, the bore is excellent. Except for the bolt, all the parts are matching, note the cut-off was retained. The year 1917 would indicate the time of the upgrade to Mark 111 ?
