    Winchester US M1917

    Hi guys,
I snagged this piece over the weekend at a gun show. I've always hankered after a nice '17 that hadn't been refurbed for WW2 but was never able to find one. This Winchester example showed up Saturday morning while a dealer was setting up. It's just spoke to me so I haggled a bit with the dealer and we came up with a mutually acceptable price and the rest is history. The next day was my birthday and my best friend and table partner handed me a M17 Rem. bayo to go with it. When I got her home I attached a period Kerr sling to complete the ensemble. The bore is great and I can't wait to take her to the range. Here are some pics.

    Best regards,
    Len

Unfortunately I see a BIG problem here Ken....
(I was supposed to find that one!)

    I love it!!!

Man, isn't it a great thrill when you see something like that just being set out on a table?
(Kinda difficult to keep your poker face on though!)

    Thanks for sharing!

You lucky duck. I never had a Winchester only Remingtons and Eddystones. Very nice.

Nice looking rifle. I never thought I would have a winchester and then lucked into two lend-lease rifles at really good prices. One has a 10-18 barrel stamp serial# 4755540. I have a PH5B rear sight on it right now.

That is a very nice looking U.S. Rifle .30 Model of 1917, it makes my Winchester look pretty sad, congrats! My serial number is kind of close to yours.
