    If you have.................

Just a bit of info for you No4, 7 and 9 bayonet collectors but if you still have one in the wrapper and the wrapper label identifies it by the B1/CR XX A 'ministry' number (so named after the old Ministry of Supply who used to oversee the Ordnance factories..........) then you can be assured that it was from an Army contract. So B1/CR 46 A would indicate an Army contract No9 bayonet. If you have on identified by a 7B/XXXX type number, then this from an RAF contract. The RAF and Navy were responsible for their own trials, tests and weapons procurement procedures until the early 70's. So your still wrapped and labelled No9 bayonet would be marked 7B/1443.

After the mid to late 60's the old 'ministry' and the various other numbers were being slowly amalgamated and codified to what we now know to be NSN's (NATO standardised or stock numbers) similar to B1/1005-99-960 XXXX. So now your No9 bayonet will be marked
    B1/1005-99-961-8476.

Not a lot of use but just another little snippet of useless information that I thought I'd pass on to you before I die...................!
