    droping the hammer

This seems like an easy to figure out question but alas the obvious sometimes escapes my grasp. How do I lower the hammer so it is not under spring tension without pulling the trigger everytime?

What I do is, pull the bolt back far enough to where it will be against the hammer squeeze the trigger and walk the bolt forward so you dont slam the hammer against the firing pin. I read that some where.
