Took my scopeless No4 Mk1 (T) to the range

Picked up this scopeless (T) a few weeks back. It came with a repro mount and Weaver K4 scope on it. This is only the second range trip since purchasing My No4 MK1 (T). I beleive this may have been one of the scopeless rifles left undone in 1944. She sure does shoot good. The 6 round target is 1943 dated Win Ball ammo. I fired 3 rounds made a couple of clicks of windage adjustment (went the wrong way) and fired three more. 5 out of six rounds went into 1 1/8 inch. The flyer was most likely my fault. 100yds, 50 degrees, sunny and a light cross wind.

I also got 3 round 1 inch groups out of my reload (180gn Sierra .311 SP, 40gn IMR 4064) and a 3 round 1 inch group using some old Norma 150gn ammo. It seems the old girl shoots well with most anything.

That is really, really good for off-the shelf ammo.
Now you will have to do some careful reloading, to find out if the rifle can do even better.

I have found that reloading for the SMLE and No. 4, is bullet wieght and velocity close to the mil spec gave a good place to start working up some loads.
