    Long branch 84?86L

Came across at my local shop a lb 84 or 86L
    no4mk1/3

no pics and I looked at it quick but I believe it was also ftr'd in 56

no safety or mag. 0 bolthead. Dusty as hell from being in a closet for who know how long

grabbing it for 100 but what would be the correct revision safety for it?

Anyone have a correct mag for this years?

    Thanks

If its a Britishicon FTR'd No4 Mk1/3, then technically it would be correct in beech furniture, suncorite finish, Fazakerley barrel - and probably Fazakerly minor parts like the safety.

I examined the rifle more closely yesterday and it is a FAZ FTR in 56 and it is an 86L rifle...barrel is date F52 as well as other parts.

So I finally received my Stratton book back from a friend of mine and did a bit more reading....it appears that a Mk1 Milled back site would be accurate to place on the rifle

Also it appears that the Fourth Variation Rear safety catch and first gen lock spring would be the correct safety parts for the FTR...

Can someone please advise if this seems correct and I read this right?

    thanks

Being a Britishicon FTR, it would have a UK Mk1 sight of any manufacture, but likley Fazakerly. The safety & spring could be anything - the original LB item, or any of the other patterns/manufacturers.

Thanks. Kinda like pick the next item outta the bin and not worry about matching
    manufacturers etc. :-)

Here are two No4 Mk1* that have been through FTR rebuild; they're both Savages, but essentially a Long Branch would turn out the same.

You see they both have beech furniture, suncorite black paint finish, Fazakerly Mk1 rear sights (see the F or code on the slider). One has a Savage safety, the other a Fazakerley - although you can't see a difference without checking the code on the inside.
