REALLY dumb question

I just picked up a Type 99 at an auction today. I have been looking for a decent one and I couldn't pass this one up at the price. Here's my really dumb question: It has a dust guard... how to you take that off?

Remove the bolt- the dust cover slides off along with the bolt.
