    New to me Garand

Received my 5,000,000 series Springfield on Friday...meetings all day Friday, Friday night, Saturday, company function Saturday night....finally got to the range on Sunday afternoon. I spent 3-4 hours disassembeling and cleaning the rifle, gave the stock a bath in mineral spirits with 0000 steel wool and 4 coats of linseed oilicon wax......man is this a great rifle or what. It took 3 clips and I was dialed in. It held great 2 " groups off the bags at 100 yards. I wish I hadn't waited so long to jump in.........

I'll bet it gave you the well-known "Garandicon Grin," too

It's so rewarding to have a new rifle work flawlessly the first clip and zero perfectly. Nothing worse than saving a few bucks and having to mess with it and it still won't come around like it should...
