    "03" Springfield Markings ID Help

I was hoping someone can explain these markings on my "03" Springfeild #600,3XX.
The M39 is on the barrel under the handguard half way between the front and rear sights.
The "Z" marks are on both sides of the rear sight base.
The "X" is on the bottom of rear sight base.
The "A" is by the floorplate release.
The barrel date is just for dating info.
I looked through all the books I have on Springfields and found nothing. Thanks for all info.

RBruce- Hers some pics to look at. The finish is almost all worn off and it looks rough but is actually real smooth. Only the safety and bolt sleeve have pitting on them. Stock has been redone and the bore is dark but with defined lands and grooves. I took the striker off cause it is a low serial number receiver. Any ideas on the markings on the tang of the buttplate?

The characters on the barrel are the heat lot code. The others are probably sub-inspection marks.

Really nice old rifle. Might be worth the effort to carefully strip off the shiny finish and apply some wax or BLOicon.
