Is there a stickie for "repro"/fake parts ID?

I ordered a frt sight guard (blued, R with flaming bomb)and was told it was "GI" but when it arrived it just looks too poor quality to be mil spec original GI. Is there a stickie of known fake parts being pushed as "original"? Maybe a side by side pic of original vs fake.

Reproduction Remington front sight covers have a pronounced crease where the cover flares out to go around the barrel. Original front sight covers have a radiussed curve where they flare out to go around the barrel with no trace of a crease.

    Hope this helps.

I have 1 reproduction sight hood with the R formed from a series of small dots. You have to use a 10X glass to see this. They must use the same machine that some of the gun manufacturers are using to apply the serial numbers

Look at the 2 pics below. They describe what John mentioned. One has a radius and another has a definite crease.

So the upper pic is fake? It has the crease. Thanks for the pic. I'll try to post a pic of the fake I got.
I noticed the originals seem to have stampings with wide flat bottoms in the recesses of the letters. True/false? The hood I have has the d*mn dot matrix stamping!
Any other repros floating around out there? Sling mounts, sights, buttplates, etc. we need to be aware of?

Go to Bill Ricca's page. He does a side by side of many of the '03 fakes he's encountered.
