WWI .455 cal. S&W revolver question.....

Since a lot of you guys are Canadianicon I thought I would bring this over here. Johnny P answered questions about markings, but I still need to know about a possible value. I know enough to guestimate "shooter" value, just not "collector" value.

Pics Questions for Johnny P ............................

    Thanks !!

    OK, I'll try again........

The pics were there when I made the posting, but are gone now. I think maybe someone didn't like the place they were hosted from and eliminated them. These are direct upload. Hope they work.

It was converted to .45 Colt, yes?

Britishicon, then Canadianicon usage, I reckon.

If you can find any recent completed auction prices on the various gun selling sites it would be the best way to estimate current pricing on a national level.(I don't have an account on any, so can't access the old completed auctions.) My SWAG would be anywhere from US$450-700. I know that's a pretty wide range, but that's what I would expect insome of my favorite stores. Even in a fairly limited geographical area its not uncommon to see such variances. On particular occasions, that range may be even broader. (Being a regular customer also helps keep prices toward the low end!)

Very similar to the one I posted but in much better shape and I now see the extra work that was done on mine and can see that the extractor on mine was changed. many thanks for the pics.

nice looking revolver , thats a keeper , i love the canadian markings , while S&W dont quite get the price of the Colts in general , id think this is a high end purchase

Or .45 Auto-Rim/.45 ACP with moonclips ? The Auto-Rim/ACP conversions were done for the civilian market, i.e. post-service.
I cannot say what values are where you live, but a conversion generally spoils collector value. What you have appears to be a very nice example, with honest wear on the bluing were one would expect it. For me, that would be a keeper to enjoy shooting with easily available ammo/reloading components. While, of course, looking out for a .455!
