The key to any successful business is attention to detail. This is gone today. The corporations have removed the customer from their plans, it is just about the money. They hide behind firewalls and refuse to let a customer near them. If you push hard enough, they might let someone in India or the P.I. talk to you, but never an American. They just don't care if you are happy or satisfied. B of A personnel in my town are just a bunch of low paid Mexicans with Latino supervisors. They cater to the illegals and make it easy for them to pull whatever business they need. The father of all personal banks, reduced to a bad joke. This is what happens when a political bribe becomes "Free Speech".

I can agree with you up to this. My son has worked for B of A for years. He started out answering calls from customers. They still have many people there who do the same. Last I looked Maine was not in India though some would think it's close.

It appears to be a fact that the U.S. has become a service economy. Too often though the "service" is either missing, incomplete or difficult to "navigate" for satisfaction of the consumer. "You want mashed potatoes? Here are the potatoes, cook em, mash em yourself" kind of thing. A meal out is served by a kowtowing and cringing waitperson groveling for the tip rather than providing genuine service..."Hello, I'm X, I'll be your waitperson...". Or, my recent experience with a local "mercantile" where I purchased a new Honda mower which broke a spring that broke a drive belt after about 3 hours of operation. Took the mower back in - "Uhh, we don't have Honda parts (why the hell is this large store selling Honda mowers that it cannot repair in its shop?) but we'll get it in right away, check it and order the parts." I told "Dave" that I'd lost the sales receipt - "no problem, its new." One week later..." (Bob) We'll probably get it into the shop tomorrow and check it out." What happened to "right away"? 10 days after taking the mower in.." (Shane) Do you have a receipt for its purchase here?". "No, actually, I don't have it (my fault), do you have a store inventory number for this mower?; I can show you my CC statement for $xxx.xx paid on 24 April 11 to your store and my mower registration with Honda." "But, you don't have a receipt?" Been shopping at this store for 23 years, most of the clerks know me by name, have been my clinic patients; I have a local reputation for being honest and trustworthy in this town of 3000 people. Local community is screaming for local folks to shop locally. Fact is, the mower is my wife's mower. I use my "gentility" first to get things set right but if that doesn't work, "German Judy" gets her turn and God help anyone who tangles with her.

Dave, you are so right. The old saying "we are just a number" is so painfully so. Sad!

I closed my B of A account yesterday. Checking, savings, and credit card. I HATED the way they treated me and the service charges were insane. They were not just rude, it was as if they went out of their way NOT to help you. When I went in to close the account down the agent didn't even try to get me to stay or even ask why I was closing the account.

I already had an account at my credit union but had never used it. Just didn't want to go through changing the direct deposit and they only have two locations about four mile away.
They have no fees at all on anything and even cover the cost if I use my debit card at another bank, and they're always very nice.

I actually enjoyed cutting up the B of A cards yesterday. It was a long time in coming and I should have done it years ago.
