Beg, borrow or rent a chamber reamer

I need your help in locating a finishing chamber reamer.....please read the following sad story:

I acquired a partially sporterized No. 4 Mk1 in 303 british. It had been restocked, barrel shortened and metal brought to 'silver'. I have chamfered the badly cut barrel' satin blued the metal changed out the trigger and scoped it.

My problem is that the previous owner had 'left' a small piece of brass in the chamber that dents the shoulder of any brass I fire. I tried to gently remove it but it appears 'welded' to the chamber. The elegant way to correct this is to take a finishing reamer and gently cut the brass out without changing the chamber dimensions.

I have had no luck finding a gunsmith that can do this work locally. Nor have I been able to locate a reamer that I could rent or better yet borrow for a day......anyone have a lead?

You might get more / some response if you said where in the world you are !!!
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

    Fair Enough Comment

Forgot my profile for this site didn't show anything....have updated it. Thanks for pointing that out.

For the record my second Mk 1 is totally military complete with bayonet and receiver cover. I only did a trigger exchange to help my shooting. ....the one I am playing with was picked up for $85 and has allowed me to be a bit of a gunsmith at little cost.

I also have collected several Spanish military handguns because 1) they are cheap and 2) break down often enough to allow me do do even more gunsmithing.

My last military rifle was a M1icon Garand which I donated to the M1 for Vets program and it went to a Marine sniper.

You can order a finish reamer from Brownells in Montezuma Iowa. The cost is better than the games involved in borrowing and shipping a reamer.

Give "Dave Manson" a try, excellent reamers, and if yo do an article on the job and mention his name, and company details etc, he will refund you the cost of the reamer.

You could write it up in the Gunsmith forum add a few pics, and point him to the article, one free reamer.

bigduke6 & browningautorife: Thanks for your posts....I am leaving for a two week trip to Wyoming, Montana and Idaho so I will have to follow up on this issue in July. No...no hunting on this trip but will certainly be scoping out the animal life while there.

    Just rent a reamer.

Elk Ridge Reamer Rentals might be able to help.
