Its a No4 scope mount, not sure of the maker, I'm after new or preferably used (being a little thrifty) thanks R

I can see how it fits/works but a far better, tried and tested variant MUST be the Fulton type mount retailed by both Fulton and BDL. Cheap too

For a no-drill mount there are American B-Square and S&K mounts. The S&K are extremely solid but run close to a hundred bucks up here.

There's a fellow on canadiangunnutz called "Gairlochian" who turns out a no-drill mount for a Number 4 that he sells for a third of that. There is a thread on cgn in their Milsurp forum with photos and a test report.
I'm using an S&K because that's what was on the Number 4 when I got the critter and I haven't fnished playing with it yet.

Check them all out before spending any money. That Fulton mount sounds worth checking into, especially if you can get it for under the national debt. They do make good stuff; I just normally can't afford it!

I've got a B square, and an S&K I don't use either of them. If you want the B square we can do something for sure, and probably the S&K too, but I need to think about that for a little longer I think... Nah I'll keep the S&K, PM me if you want the B-square.

It looks as though RJW's mount is fixed outside the backsight axis pin ears and instead of the effective and tightening taper block of the Fulton/BDL mount, that engages under the charger bridge, this mount depends on the ejector screw to do the same job.

In engineering terms, if I had to depend on the matching tapers across a large area or a solitary 3BA screw shank to prevent rotating moments, I'd plump for the matching tapers. Additionally, unless you machine up an exact spaced collar to sit between the backsight ears, there's not the slightest chance that you could tighten up the transverse screw without stripping the 4BA thread or crushing the ears. That's convinced me - Fultons/BDL picatinny for me!

If you can't find the one you show then I would recommend the S&K. I have one on one of my No4's and it is a great mount however not cheap as I paid around $90.00 for it a couple of months ago and it was used.

As soon as BDL gets some more of the Fulton's mounts in, I will be first in line. I know that they are expensive, bu they will make a great yardstick to test other mounts against.

I did order a Fulton's scope mount from Brian Dick. It turned up today. I am surprised how quickly he got it out to me - A+++ to Brian. I will confirm that the No.4 Fulton's mounts are extremely well made, and I can't wait to slap some rings and a scope on it for my range visit on Saturday. Any suggestions regarding scope ring maker? I will be using a scope with a 1" tube, and I want a pretty low profile.

I just got a B square on a sprterized NO.4 Mk 2 I bought. Was intending to refurb to orginal spec but on closer inspection the barrel seems a bit more worn at the throat than I'd like. have to check it out at the range before making the call as to whether teh Bsquare is surplus to requirements..
