I know that Gas Traps rifles had a crosshatched rear aperture.
I understand that subsequent WWII apertures are not crosshatched and should be smooth.
Apparently the post war apertures are all crosshatched, once more.
In the crosshatched apertures I have, there is quite a variety of patterns, from simple one way lines to actual dot and lines, and some patterns are fine, and others less so.
How smooth should the aperture's rear face be to actually be a smooth WWII piece; or do I have it all wrong and crosshatching IS WWII production?
I have not found the definitive answer in Duff, or elsewhere.
Any help is appreciated.Information
