"Oh No Bubba Strikes Again"

Had a rainy day today so did some inside work.
Repaired an RMC two rivit handgaurd for a fellow member.
Bubba dicided to fix a loose retainer with NAILS, whe he tried to peen the cutoff nails he bent the retainer and cracked the wood by the rivit holes.
I took out the nails, straightened out the retainer, bead blasted and reparked it grey. Fixed the cracks and installed the correct rivits with a custom made tool that only puts pressure on the rivits.
Start in the lower right and work your way left. My pictures came out in reverse.....Frank

Harlan, yes this is the new member who asked for help with this RMC handgaurd. It is otherwise a realy nice RMC 2 rivit handgaurd that Bubba almost killed. Can you believe #4 NAILS. Ouch!! Turned out nice.....Frank

It came out VERY nice! I had no idea how messed up it was when he asked for help and I referred him to you, Frank.
Sorry about that, but you sure did rise to the challenge! Your skill is nothing short of amazing

Also, I really do appreciate that you go to the extra effort of taking photos of your work as you're doing it, and then going to the effort to post illustrated totorials to help the rest of us learn how you repair things so well. It's always nice to see anything historical restored and put back into service instead of thrown away.

I enjoyed working on Phill's handgaurd.
I am a member here to help and receive help. That's what this forum is about.
I love workining with military wood. When I was working with this RMC handgaurd I thouhgt about all the G.I.'s that had handled it through the years.
It, as any of our historical pieces are becoming, more rare and worthy of preservering......Frank
