Got there around 1045, seemed quiet compared to the last time but it was the frist day, bumped into Roger and Dave, for a quick chat, (you have to be quick) you just dont have enough time to explore all the stands, I covered most but its the litle ones that can have the most treasures.

There was a few bargins to be had, bought a few things to trade.

some of the prices below that stuck out.

    Bren mags (new) £3.50

Repro No32 scopes (seen a few) cheapest I seen was £380, and scope pads £32 a set.

1907 bayonets, a Vickers £100 and a Mole £85 the bayonets would of cleaned up but they needed the correct scabbards.

World wide arms had some nice Lewis Guns, think they were £3450 bit out of my price range

I seen the best looking Wilkinson 1907 bayonet I have ever seen, it had the wrong scabbard but the bayonet was mint, price was way over the top, Even though I,m reducing my collection to unit marked only, I was still tempted but resisted in the end.

The rain was just starting around 1500 and most stalls started to put the rain sheets over, so I decided to call it a day and headed off to get the bus to the station. I had to leave as I was meeting up with Wheaty for a Pint in London.

(good to see you again Wheaty, next time I,ll have a pram with me)

    Thanks Geoff,
It was nice to see you. There was certainly plenty of stuff there. If you wanted to make up a repro No4 T there was everything there apart from the rifle. Dave is pretty handy with woodworking & he was impressed with the repro No15 chests at 175 pounds. I deliberated over a nice hooked quillon SMLE bayonet for 250. It wasn't outrageous but I passed in the end as I was only looking to buy to sell on & I thought it may be difficult to make anything much on it. One thing I was pleased to find was a nice RSA No53 for 60 quid. So there's another No32 Mk2 or 3 saved from oblivion. Oddly enough I bought it off a friend who now lives in Franceicon in one of our neghbouring villages on The Somme. Small world......

We just about got round it all by 5.15 & then retired for a pint & a steak before a long & tedious journey back up the motorway to Brum.

I spent the week there "working" with one of the traders, (The one with the No15 chests), there did not apear to be as many enfield/bren colectors this year, and alot less fools!!!!!! (the trader I was staying with still had a pucker L42 magazine at the end of the show and nobody had shown any interest).
I managed to sell things I had been carrying for a few years (WW1 browning ammo boxes, and a modern American vehicle night sight)
there were many many bren magazines at low low prices walking past one stall I saw a Mk1 mag on top of a pile covered in thick grease... that one cost me £3.00 but there were no more in that box...
I also found a couple of L1A1 slr arctic slings, and on sunday as I was walking to my car I talked myself into 2 sets of repo pads and mounts for the No4 (t) that cost me £210
all in all a good show (apart from the ablutions) as both a seller and a buyer

Not a vintage Beltring this year as I was only there for one day and in a bit of rush. But I did get the following:

    Early DPM Sniper Smock: £45
Unissued P1944 right hand pouch: £10
Unissued P1958 left and right pouches + grade 1 belt: £15
Israeli copy Mills No.36 grenade: £15
Dug relic WWI Stokes mortar bomb: £25 (restoration project)
Desert DPM Boonie hat: £7 (present for son)
Pair of unissued size long P1937 cross-straps: £5
Unissued 1940 dated P1937 Bren supplementary pouches and strap set: £6

Unusually no gun stuff for me. I have a long term aim to put together complete sets of P37, P44 and P58 webbing.

I guess I did OK !!! I got a small cache of scope box slings, all new and unused, as well as some cadet sights for 12 quid each (assorted target). A L42 mag, a RARE Browning belt loader and a couple of Vickers funnels and sight as well as some other exotic bits and bobs that I would have probably missed but not for a chum who spied them and has NO interest in them at all. Also got some 32 mount parts handed to me, so that was a real plus.....
Must try and remember what else, but it was a GOOD trip.
