    Savage Walnut Furniture

Anybody have a source for Savage production walnut furniture? Recenly picked up sn# 0C346, and want to get it back up to speed.
    Thanks,
    Mike Pearson

If you change your mind about the species of wood, I have a Savage forend in beech. It has never been on a rifle. PM me if interested.

I could be wrong but I think most if not all Savage No.4's were stocked in birch. I've had hundreds through here including a dozen or so No.4Mk.1's with serial ranges in the 0C-6C if memory serves and I've never seen one that was stocked in walnut at the factory.

I stand corrected, birch not beech. Thanks Brian!

I could easily be wrong about this but during wartime production, I think some Savages were stocked with Canadian Long Branch wood. I know that Savage wood or at least US made stocks came into Canadaicon when they were short and towards the end of the war when all of the Savage parts left or unassembled were sent to Long Branch.

My old aunt that worked in the Long Branch plant complained to me once that she didn't like it when the US wood came in because it was heavier to handle than the Canadian wood.
