My Dad and his M1 carbine

Well, actually Uncle Sam's M1icon carbine. My sister and I were going through some old snapshots and came across these of my Dad (he passed away in 2007). Dad was drafted in 1943, went to OCS, was commissioned a lieutenant and served in the Army Transportation Corps on Liberty and Victory ships during the war. He stayed in the reserves for 20 years and my best guess is that these were taken at summer camp sometime in the early 1950s. Note the adjustable sight and Type II barrel band (I think).

And this looks like it would really be fun to play with!
