That is a WC 6, 1/2 ton command car. Ingenious method to get yourself out of a sticky spot!

We used the M38s I think they were, and the drill if you lost the driveshaft or rear end gears was to use front wheels to drag your self home. That looks like the same thing these guys were doing. Would that ever be funny to see at the transport section when they came in.

Must just be a drill since there is a spare available.

Yes, you can see they have only moved a couple of feet. But it would sort of work.
