    Smle bolt ?

On my SMLE No1 MkIII with the bolt knob down against the rifles wrist there is a gap between the bolt lug and the top of the actions bolt rib guide enough to fit my thumbnail between. Is this an indication of a major problem? This bolt will fully close if inserted in another rifle.

    Thanks Terry

Nope, nothing wrong with that. The bolt fully closes. The IMPORTANT bit is just behind that, on the left of the picture. This is the bolt top long locking lug. If that (and the short, lower bolt locking lug) are both fully engaged, you're home and dry

Thanks Peter that reassures me that all is well, It was only due to fact that I had this rifle and several others together at that same time, that I noticed the others all close with no gap, or I don’t think I would have ever noticed it didn’t on this rifle but having noticed just wanted to alleviate any worries.

    Regards Terry
