    K98 Stock

    Hello All,

I am looking for a stock for my 1940 Mauser K98icon. I am taking it deer hunting this fall and I do not wish to beat up the original stock, wich is very nice. That being the case, the stock will only be on the rifle for a week out of the year. It does not have to be in great condition. I am not concerned if the stock is military or civillian, or a sporterized version of a military stock. All that I care is that it fits my K98. I of course am not wanting to spend alot of money on this. Any ideas on where I can get one? Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    mdrim13

You will find sporterized original K98icon stocks on e-bay and Gun broker and similar firearms auction sights from time to time. They are usually going for reasonable prices as most are looking for the un-altered military stock to restore one back to original configuration.
There are also some very nice older commercial sporter stocks out there as that was the trend in the 50's and 60's to put nice wood on the old war horses.
