    FAL Hanguard Internals???????

I acquired a wood hanguard, beautiful walnut (?) about 30 years ago. It is the one with the large bulge and three flutes on each side narrowing towards the end. It is not the one on the HB FALs. You can see a picture of what I have if you look at the T48, page 158, Steven's Metric FALs.

The handguard has a hole on the bottom between the bulge and narrower part and two cut-outs on the top above this hole as you look down at the handguard. It appears there was a metal support or frame in their to support whatever the screw hole was for.

Anyone familiar with this handguard and what I'm talking about???? Sorry to be so vague.

It sounds like the Canadianicon type of forestock. No pics?

There are 3 basic types of American T-48,
Belgian ~ FN manufacture in several varients with various furniture
    US ~ High Standard
    US ~ Harrington & Richardson

The Belgians marketed them to several countries.

The most commonly available are Israeli versions of the T48 stock.

I had one of the first pictured guns in Camp Gagetown NB. One of 3003 I think. It was in good shape except the handguard was cracked, which I fixed. God knows where it is now?
